Cub Scouts (Packs)

Grades 1 – 5

In Cub Scouting, young boys, girls, and their families have fun and adventure in a program that builds character and instills values. Cub Scouting embraces the values of citizenship, compassion, cooperation, courage, faith, health and fitness, honesty, perseverance, positive attitude, resourcefulness, respect, and responsibility. These values are taught in all parts of the Cub Scout program – all while your child is having a great time with their friends and other Scouting families.

Scouts BSA (Troops)

Grades 6 – 12

Scouts BSA, one of the traditional membership divisions of the BSA, is available to youth who have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old or have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old. The program achieves the BSA’s objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness.

Aims and Methods

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

There are four aims of Scouting: citizenship, character, personal fitness, and leadership.

The methods of Cub Scouting are: living the ideals, belonging to a den, advancement, family involvement, activities, serving the community, and the uniform.

Benefits

Scouting works! Over the past several years Scouting has partnered with colleges, universities, and foundations to study the impact of the program. Scouting activities contribute to the academic development of the children who participate. In the elementary grades, the program is built around a series of theme-based explorations. As a Cub Scout advances, the requirements get more challenging, to match the new skills and abilities they have learned.

Additional activities such as overnight camp outs, Scout Days at partners like the Greenville Drive, field trips, day camps and resident camp are available. Click here to see some of the opportunities.
